One thing I really love is personal style 'secrets' -- like when you read in a magazine or
Into the Gloss or whatever and Sophia Coppola is offering little nuggets of wisdom that make no sense like "I rub lemon juice on my face each night before bed, and I never wear blue because it makes your veins look prominent and I only use Swedish egg white soap to remove my eye makeup" and it's like a weird glimpse into their twisted psyche. But what I
really love is when that life advice and hard-earned 'secrets' to style are served up by icons in a bullet-pointed list of little witty declarative Oscar Wilde bons mots. When I was a kid, I had this book, which I used to read and re-read and love without even understanding the diva culture it was mocking:

Here's
an awesome post of excerpts from it -- magnifique!
Simon Doonan has good ones too -- listen up girls! Thongs are over and tattoos are trying too hard!

So courtesy of this girl's blog, here's
a fab alphabetical list from Marlene Dietrich. My personal favorites:
K - Kisses
Don't waste them. But don't count them.
L - Lukewarm
When this adjective applies to your feelings, stop feeling whatever you are feeling.
M - Make-up
Too bad most of us need it.
N - Nail Polish
Dark nail polish is vulgar.
P - Pants
In Texas when you say that a man is beautiful or handsome, you simply say: "His pants fit him."
